Life in Carmel revolves around times of prayer. Seven times a day from morning to night the sisters come together - to pray the Liturgy of the Hours and for the celebration of Mass.
Mass
forms an integral part of daily prayer. Sunday Mass, in particular, is
a community celebration of the Eucharist.
CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER "Pondering the Word of God day and night" - Rule. A large part of the Carmelite's day is devoted to private prayer and Spiritual Reading, known as 'Lectio Divina' to the sisters. In the private oratory.
Two hours
a day are set aside for private prayer and one hour for Spiritual Reading.
At other times, an atmosphere of silence, conducive to continual communion with the Lord, pervades the convent.
