A full viewing of the images can be got by clicking on this thumbnail photo.

The Monastery is seen from the entrance and from the enclosed garden within. The entrance gates look quite sturdy. Within we see views of the chapel and sanctuary. A painting of St. Joseph holding the Child Jesus was on the back wall of the sanctuary. Also to be seen is a painting by Robert West of Christ and Mary Magdalen. Sr. Teresa Hamilton, who was born in Edinburgh in 1818 can be seen in front of a statue of Mary. Mary Ann Hamilton, a convert to Catholicism, entered in 1846. By her mother's will, she could not alienate any of her capital during her life-time, but she could use the income from it. She made this available to the nuns, though she had to appear in court to secure it for them. The note of relief is apparent even in the account books! See the History Page. The Cross is from the roof of St. Joseph's and now stands in Ranelagh Gardens. A photo of some of the sisters of the time is also included.
